Addie now

It's been awhile since I updated on Addie's latest. She's already changing so fast. She is really moving up in the world.....she is just transitioning into 0-3 month clothing and #1 diapers. So many cute outfits left behind, yet so many cute ones ahead!
At her 1 month doctor's appt she weighed 8 lbs. 1 oz. and grew 1 inch (confident she's larger than that now at 6 wks). She continues the beginnings of beautiful bright blue eyes and will track you with her eyes if you are close enough. I am convinced she gave me her first intentional smile just yesterday. Ah, the little milestones.
She also has started to sleep a little longer at night. The last few nights I've found myself waking up, looking at the clock, and wondering if I just forgot I had already gotten up to feed her? Nope. She went 5 1/2 hrs. last night......felt like an eternity. So her routine is adjusting a little on account of this new change.
Addie has been a polar opposite of Kai (and slightly more spoiled).....she likes to be in a sling attached to me, MOVING in her carseat, or in her vibrating chair to fall asleep during the day. I'm just thankful she's somewhat flexible and able to keep up with our on-the-go summer activities (especially since Kai is insistent on always being outside).
Addie also has refused a bottle and pacifier up till now. Which for our little "siren" and a tired mommy has caused some LONG days. I offered the same style paci and bottles Kai used as an infant and had no luck. So we just switched them all to new brands and styles! Bingo. We have a much more muffled siren now.
Addie's newborn photo shoot pics have arrived! Here is her trademark shot. I cannot share them all with you via blog. But feel free to check out a couple others on krisiannephotography.com or come on over in a week or so and see them hanging on our walls! It's so nice to have a couple individuals of each of the kiddos and several cute ones together! Thanks again to our friend Kristi for an awesome shower gift!

Baby Dedication

This last weekend Kai and Addie were dedicated to the Lord together at our church in a prayer ceremony announcing our intentions to raise them to know who Jesus is and the salvation that comes through Him. This is a self-portrait done after the fact.....we totally overlooked pictures while we were all in our "Sunday best." Occassionally Kai plays by himself in the sandbox while I'm finishing something up inside with Addie. This day I came out to check on him and found him napping in the sandbox.......he stated "nigh nigh" and agreed he was pretty comfy. What a character.

Prepare yourself for blog posts...I have free hands!

ZOO trip for 2
We met our playgroup at the zoo this week! Yes, I braved the zoo with a toddler and newborn...however, I could NOT and would NOT have done it without the help of my bro who is visiting this weekend! Here's the playgroup kiddos waiting to board the train! Who goes to the zoo for animals anyway.....
Kai was skeptical of the giraffe's long tongue while he attempted to feed them crackers and enjoyed watching this peacock put on a show with his feathers!
Here's the 3 of us (Addie attached to my front) at the sleeping bear exhibit. It was disappointing that the majority of our favorite animals were napping during our visit! Maybe next time.....only if I'm feeling VERY brave or have Daddy along!

Addie's bath

This girl loves her warm water bathes! Although watch out for high shreaks and shrills when she starts to get a cold chill! She was making some cute facial expressions before we hit that stage!
Addie's now 4 wks. old. Not sure her newest growth measurements, but we notice she's bigger (newborn diapers are getting quite snug) and her eyes are becoming a bright shade of blue in the right light!

New Ride

Thanks MooMoo! Kai and Addie can now ride in style together! There's a little wall divider between them. Occassionally, Kai would strain to peek around and check on Addie. So cute.

Sand is here!

Kai's sand arrived today by the tractor load for his turtle sandbox! He ate up every second of it. We had to strip him down completely outside and bathe him afterwards! Fun times ahead. Thanks Ga!

Sk8

The skate park at Ponderosa is now open. It will be another summer as spectators for Kai, Addie and I. It already looks to be challenging to keep Kai OFF the skatepark......normally getting to run and skate with Daddy at leisure. Thank goodness for "Mimi" (Aunt Emily) to help chase Kai and man the skate shed!

Candid Moments

Our friend Kristi, with KristiAnne Photography gave me a Newborn Photo Shoot for a baby shower gift! We tried to snap a few with Kai when he was willing to cooperate. This is a cute shot in the works! Stay tuned for results..........
I attempted my own photo shoot at home.....this is the ONE photo that even remotely turned out.

Addie 3 wks.

We're starting to feel a little more settled having Addie with us this 3rd week of life. She continues to be a good eater and sleeper. We are guessing she's around 7 lbs. now give or take a few pounds (sounds small but I can tell she's bigger & heavier). I've had an "itch" to try on all her cutie girl clothes, although most of them are summer clothes and it's been rainy and cold lately! I did manage to sneak a few outfits in on warmer days as you'll see below!
Addie's eyes started out very dark charcoal (much darker than Kai's), but they are slowly changing to a deep blue.
Daddy's girlAddie and Mommy
She has this very content look after eating. She is calm and alert. It's our favorite time with her!
Getting all dolled up!
Derrick and I took Addie to a wedding with us this last weekend. The ceremony was outside and it was pretty cool. So I added a long sleeve and socks to this cute summer dress to make it work! She did awesome the whole wedding and everyone commented how "little" she was!
We had a generous friend give us a Newborn Photo Shoot for a shower gift. The basket was one of the poses we used during the shoot. Addie stayed awake the whole shoot and was exhausted afterwards, so I let her nap in the basket. So cute. Stay tuned for photo shoot pics in the next few weeks!
These are just some good face shots during her alert state.

Kai is 20 months

Kai is 20 months. He is seemingly older by the day. His whole body appears larger than even a month ago. He now has a "big boy" haircut that took place with our clippers at home. The new look is growing on us. He has sprouted with new words and the ability to put 2 words together. He is finally getting molars and everyone comments "he is tall for his age." His latest past times include playing outside, coloring, Elmo and Thomas the Train DVD's, and playing more intricately with toys he's had for a long time (flying an airplane, driving the schoolbus, pretending to feed and give naps to his stuffed animals).
Rain, rain go away, come again another day!
Not only does Kai not have my FULL attention, but it's been rainy outside ALL week to add to our chaos. We've had to work alot harder at being entertained inside and not feeling cooped up! Kai is usually game to color when I am searching for options. I am occassionally convinced he likes to dump this tub of crayons out and sort through them more than color in the colorbook.

Grandma (known as Ga) left last week during Kai's nap. She left him a little "treat" for when he woke up! He enjoyed every second of it and continues to ask for "more treat" days later. I thought the end of the video was so sweet.
