Children's Museum

Grandma and Grandpa Hansen visited for Addie's birthday. We took the kids to the Denver Children's Museum one day for something fun to do. Kai LOVED all the hands-on stuff and Addie was stimulated to the brim! Grandpa and Kai building a "house" for "some people." Kai loves tools so this station where he got to saw and use a manual drill was awesome! Grandma and Addie played trains. The little train table was the perfect height for Addie to stand and grab the trains/figures while Kai built tracks. Kai and Addie planting their garden. Addie enthralled with the frog puppet. Our Lil Picasso AND fireman! This video is of Addie sitting in the middle of this "nest" in the "woods." She literally played in there for about 30 mins. She would stand and watch other kids run circles around her and sit and feel the grass and look for bugs! Easy entertainment...I should build one of these in our backyard!

Addalyn's 1st Birthday

Our little girl is ONE! It's unbelievable how fast this past year has actually gone (which is HUGE for me to say)! Addie has been such a wonderful addition to our family. I can't imagine life without her. She's sweet and cute in every way! She has blessed us so greatly and we are glad to celebrate her FIRST YEAR milestone! In honor of her, we did a small party at our house with family and camp family. I decided to make DIRT CAKE with gummi worms for her, which was perfect. She LOVED it and fed it to herself. She is enjoying all her new gifts....and so is Kai! We've had to remind Kai that they were given to Addie and that SHE is graciously SHARING! Thanks to everyone for blessing her with toys and clothes! Here's a few moments from her big day! This is everyone singing to her.....she wasn't sure what to think and slightly intimidated by everyone starring at her! Overwhelmed by all the new gifts and people willing to show her what to do with them! You know she's excited when her feet are off the floor! A pre-party shot. This was her wake up birthday hair!! Wow! We are starting to have to tame it several times throughout the day! Just some footage of how INTENTLY she was enjoying her dirt cake! This was also the first time she fed herself with a spoon....not bad. We are making it a habit now!

Ka-bonk

Quick Kai story.... He was playing around upstairs with Derrick tonight as I put Addie to bed...wild as usual. All I heard was the short cries....but after I returned upstairs and things had settled down I asked: ME: "Kai, what happened to your head? Did you fall?" (2 largely visible gashes on his forehead) KAI: "Yeah, I hit my suitcase." (wooden train suitcase) ME: "Ouch buddy, how did you do that?" KAI: (fairly proud and enthusiastic for the circumstances) "I whooshed off the couch and hit my head on my suitcase. Can you believe that Mom?"

100% BOY

I never officially posted this....so if it's news to you, sorry for the delay! After several missed attempts to find out the sex (and after the baby had been declared "80% boy"--which was slightly embarassing....and what 20% girl???), we finally have the pictures to prove the "male pride" of our little guy posted on the fridge. I'm 31 wks now. Overall, I'm feeling well. The measures to monitor premature risk have gone outstanding thus far, which is so comforting! The cervical lengths have stayed in the safe zone so far. By this time during the pregnancy with Addie, I was already on hospital bedrest. So I am feeling encouraged. Although there are many benefits to being up and about (as opposed to bedrest), feeling prepared is NOT one of them. We basically kept the portable crib and carseat out since Addie graduated from them.....so that doesn't count. I have managed to dig out some boy clothes and wash them.....but it seems other projects are piling up. Shame on me for having the mind-set that I could accomplish a few things on bedrest if needed.....Addie's 1st year photo album, the baby's crocheted blanket, etc. They will just have to wait (possibly a year or more)! The name is a secret....and still to be agreed upon. I'll try to post any changes in the next few weeks (as it is still a critical risk period). Until then....thanks for your prayers for myself and our little guy!
