Many First!

Kai has busted out his shades for our sunny afternoon walks around camp for the first time this spring. The spring-like weather lately has been teasing us! We cannot avoid being outside! These shades are a guarantee to keep dust and sun out of his eyes on the days he decides to stay awake for the whole walk! Life is rough as a baby!

Happy First Easter! Kai and mom spent Easter with Grandma and Grandpa Hansen in South Dakota (giving dad a bachelor's weekend at home). It was our first plane ride together! Kai did pretty well...he entertained those around us with flirty smiles for most of the trip there and only had one "freak out" session on our decent home. He also got his first guitar lesson and wore his first "hoodie." Thanks G&G Hansen.

Sorry for delays....we've been fooling with a new computer system and just hadn't figured it out yet!

Rockin' the Broncos gear half a season too late. But hey, we're always fans!

Kai has discovered he has toes and a tongue. At lunch today he was mimicing Derrick sticking out his tongue and spitting. Pretty hilarious. Kai gets a little more drool with his than Derrick.

Still a lover of bath time. Although soon we will have to upgrade the tub....he's barely hitting the water these days. He likes to stand and be sprayed off or have water poured all over. No official splashing yet though.

new beginnings......

Yes, it's the beginnings of 3-6 month clothes, rice cereal, and sitting up supported. Life is good.

Our little guy is growing up so fast. He's ~14 pounds and getting heavy for me to carry around (especially with that darn carseat). Yes, my right arm is getting buff (anyone care to arm wrestle?) Yesterday, I had to go through Kai's closet switching out all the 0-3 month clothes and pulling out bigger ones! It's funny that the 0-3 months clothes REALLY haven't fit well for several weeks now, but it's just so hard for me to wear clothes so little and throw them back in the bins! There's just too many cute ones.

We started solid foods on March 1st. The first few attempts at rice cereal have been pretty successful. I've pulled out the airplane noises when the spoon closes in on the mouth! It works....he opens most times. Only today did we experience some sour faces and pushing the food out with his tongue! We'll keep plowing through those faces! I thought these pics caught the moment pretty well. I look forward to "messy food face' pics in the future!

Kai is also a beginner at sitting up! He still leans forward and has to have us hold at least one hand or have pillow support......he'll get there eventually!

Hope everyone is well. We'd enjoy hearing your latest beginnings! Email us.

Random shots for Leap Day

Kai's a Nuggets fan without a jersey! He won't get any sweat from his brows with that headband! Check out the ears!

Just playing on his tummy at home.

This was from me and Kai's quality time in the car at night. He looks a little spooked but it brings out those big baby blues!

Camp time in New Mexico

We were blessed to be able to attend a Christian Camping Conference in New Mexico this past week. We drove down Sunday morning and came back on Wednesday afternoon. Of course with Derrick, every trip is a skate opportunity. He had mapped out the skateparks from Trinidad, CO to Santa Fe NM to visit. Kai and I tried to take advantage of the "stretch breaks" despite the cold wind.

Kai is starting to get the hang of his Bumbo chair just in time to start solid foods! I just got a kick out of him this morning in our hotel room in New Mexico. He's really into "tracking" people as they walk around the room, especially his daddy.

We had alot of free time to explore around the NM camp and Santa Fe. It was colder than we hoped, so our time in the stroller was limited. We hit the skatepark in Santa Fe, had supper with my uncle Jon and checked out this beautiful cathedral in the historic downtown. Just a cute shot of Kai with daddy.
