Playing catch up

This post is all about catch up. I'm noticing "getting behind" is becoming more of a trend with two kiddos. I am behind in blogs, toilets, floors, laundry, hair, and style, etc. But it's summer and we don't want to miss the FUN! The "to do list" can wait. So, back up to.........
A new playground at Ponderosa and Kai is its biggest fan! At first, the wood chips and surrounding outdoors were much more entertaining than the actual playset, but he's catching on to the many ways to use a slide lately.....up, down, backwards, and laying down.
Derrick introduced Kai to the Bubble Bath! Outside of the bubble mustaches, Kai likes to pat bubbles all over his body and practice his swimming. He asks for one every night now.
The whole family hit the Monument Parade to celebrate July 4th. The rest of the day was raining and uneventful, but Kai enjoyed the horses, firing muskets, kids on bikes, old-fashioned car horns, and firetrucks in the parade. He also started to catch on to the candy throwing..... he only got 1 sucker that he thoroughly enjoyed.

Kai is asking to hold Addie more and more. He usually does a little better with the positioning than in this video. He also still only wants to kiss her on the mouth, which looks more like mouth-to-mouth if you ask me. Poor girl. But he always says her name very clearly....very cute. Still have to watch him as you can see.....sometimes he plays too rough with her face. Just thought these aunt & uncle pics were sweet.
This is Aunt Mimi watching Kai in the skate shed during open skate on Tues. nights. And this is Uncle Kyle when he came to stay with us for the weekend when Addie was about 2 wks. old.
Daddy is re-creating an existing FORT for Kai in our yard. It's currently a work-in-progress but almost finished. Kai can't wait to peek out the spy holes up top, and of course climb up to use the slide over and over. He's been "helping" Daddy and has already gotten 3 slivers in his fingers. The plan is: that won't happen upon completion! I'll keep you posted with the finished product.
Addie just turned 2 months on the 15th. She was a champ at getting all her vaccinations.....big brother by her side to tell her "it's ok." She now is 9 lbs. and 6 oz. and about 22 in. long. I'm having fun getting her in all her 0-3 months clothes! She's just started smiling and cooing/talking (response is one of my favorite parts of seeing them grow). She is getting better at taking a bottle and is starting to like her pacifier more and more. She continues to be an excellent little sis.
Kai had the 18 hr. fever yesterday. No other symptoms to accompany it thank goodness. It made for lots of whining and difficulties trying to comfort him and care for Addie at the same time. We spent most of the day laying in mommy's bed. I really can't complain too much.....it was nice to have my toddler want to be held and cuddled. It doesn't happen too often these days. Glad his body chased off that germ and he's in much better spirits today!
Come on down, come on down to the Big Old Used Car Sale!
If you've ever lived in the CO Springs area you are familiar with this little jingle. Yes, we did it.
We have upgraded to the minivan and WE LOVE it. We have a 2006 Honda Odyssey now. It was a bitter sweet day trading in our Element. However, as Derrick states, "this is much more practical." And for those of you who know my husband.....it's black. Pics to come on the next "catch up."
Well until then........

Parties

Kai's playmates are starting to turn 2 yrs. old.....party time! He didn't really understand when we said we were going to a birthday party, but after the first one we attended he keeps asking to go again. He caught on quickly.....cake, friends, entertainment, presents. A kid heaven.
Kai's friend, Zane had a pool party. It was super chill and stormy that afternoon, but Kai braved the baby pool first. Purple lips and goosebumps, he didn't care. This is Kai and Zane at their friend Tessa's birthday party. They both loved the sandbox....scooping, dumping, and packing that sand!
Here's Kai posing in the Bounce House. He loves to practice his jumping as is (thanks to Elmo's instruction).....but this jumping castle was extra fun! I caught most of the playmates together in the Bounce House in this video. Check it out!
