On the Move

We are now 1 week into our new place. We are still arranging our stuff and working out kinks here and there but it's beginning to feel like home. The move was a "piece of cake" solely due to about 15 AMAZING friends helping lift, load, unload, and set up. We did it all in 5 hours, including lunch. Impressive to say the least. No, these friends are not for hire....we selfishly want them to rest as we hope to utilize them again in 6 months:(hint, hint friends:) Kai left us during the moving process for 10 days! He ventured with Papa and MooMoo and Aunt Mimi on his first Springbreak trip to Ohio. He had an AWESOME time! He only missed Addie while he was gone (says Kai), only to my disappointment. Mom had a harder time having him away than he did. However, it was a blessing in all that had to be accomplished here at home. Highlights of the trip included: getting gifts almost every day from Great Grandma NanNan (big surprise there), a sleepover with friend Mary, witnessing a cat declawing and dog tumor removal (I know, what do you say to that), and spending time with his 4 cousins in Kansas City on the return trip. While he was away, Addie and Eli had a whole different dynamic for play and attention. It was cool to witness Addie as the talker, leader, and example for Eli. It was also much more simple play or games that they both participated in. Fun to see that bond grow. (They are both sitting in a basket in the above pic eating something and playing with their stuffed mammoth, Otis). Greatest sadness of the move is leaving behind our GREATEST neighbors, the Gaw's. Praise God it's not a total loss, we are only 6 miles south of them. But it's just not the same (Matt and Derrick are pictured above in the moving truck). Greatest blessing of the move is cheaper rent and more room for Skate Church! Praying for epic turnout this summer! Greatest adjustment of the move is Kai and Addie sharing a room in the basement. I'm not wild about them so far from us at night. But they are diggin' the new bunk beds! (above) 3 GREAT girlfriends, Lindsey, Kacy, and Sarah, that helped so much on Move Day by being there, babysitting, directing traffic and kids, cleaning, etc. (below) Some of Kai's new accessories from the Ohio trip. So glad to be done with the whole process for now. It was wild deciding and carrying out a move in ~3 weeks, but it was also a big burden lifted as to the unknown of the situation we were in. Now....there is summer to be enjoyed just around the corner! Goodbye Beechwood!
