I previously promised bath pics in Kai's new bathtub contraption, so here is the jist! It's a great seat that allows him to be sitting on his own and me not to have to worry about him drowning himself! Great for both of us!
I'm always having to come up with new objects to give Kai to keep him still.....taking into consideration he will chew on it (100% of the time straight to the mouth). This bandaid box is his new favorite during diaper changes or cranky camera sessions! Cute new cameo hat though huh?!
Derrick and I have decided to "step up" the entertainment options around our house (mostly for our own sanity, we have a busy boy). We added a outdoor swing to our already existing playset....what a bargin on our part. Kai would spend hours out there if we stuck around to push him.
Lounging indoors on Memorial Day while it rained. Why not get a jump on the laundry while I had a little helper!!!!

My Mouth
These days I just cannot find enough "chewable" objects to keep Kai content. He is teething like a mad man! I'm having to think outside the box, "what is safe with good edges, yet different than the normal chew toys that he literally throws to the side, but still exciting. Here's what I offered yesterday (amongst other things):
Measuring cups & The Gerber lid
Kai's sunglasses that he WON'T keep on his head
But the basket continues NOT to fit
It's honestly good to see pics of Kai with smiles. He is a trooper. Besides being semi-fussy from teething, he has been battling ear infections, water behind his eardrums, and some rashes since the beginning of April. It's dragging on at this point. He's on yet another antibiotic and some creams.....but the poor little guy just doesn't seem himself (if we even know what that is anymore)! Keep him in your prayers!

Boxes and Baskets
Baskets are all kinds of entertainment! Recently, Kai will pull all his toys OUT of the basket (too bad he hasn't figured out how to put them back IN). Then he will spend 30 minutes trying to pick up, suck on, eat, and weave his fingers through the basket. Great toy.
Boxes are great entertainment! We received a delivery with a new bathtub contraption for Kai yesterday (stay tuned for pics of bathtime). I just couldn't discard the box before using all its resources! So, I plopped Kai right in there. He loved it! Another 30 minutes of cold, hard entertainment!

A little red hat
Mother's Day at the Castle
For Mother's Day, Derrick surprised me with a nights stay at Glen Eryie Castle. The castle, as you can see, is a beautiful property owned by the Navigators Ministry in Colorado Springs. We were excited to spend the afternoon hiking around the property with Kai and enjoying the beautiful spring weather!
We leisurely spent time pushing Kai around and exploring the scenary. Kai is all about swings lately; the lodge where we stayed just happen to have a huge porch swing that he got a kick out of. It was awesome to just spend the time all together.

Cousins Coagulate
We visited Derrick's brother and family in Omaha this last weekend. It was Kai's first encounter with his only cousins. It was probably slightly overwhelming for him at first, but he adjust after a day or so and enjoy the company and commotion of other kids around. He had Isaac to show him highchair manners and Drew to entertain him. And of course the visit would not have been complete without a group bath! Very funny.
May Day Fever
As the snow fell outside our window May 1, Kai and I were cooped up inside all day. It was cold and Kai is battling yet ANOTHER cold. There was a definite "itch" in the air to get out into warm Spring weather....... So we pretended it was HOT by dressing for the beach! Kai sported his new swim trunks, a nylon surf shirt and his baby Birkenstocks. It made me excited to dress him for summer! Something different.
You may also notice from the pics, Kai has decided he can sit up by himself. He's pretty steady until he reaches for toys on the sides and can't pull himself back up. But he has the proud "big boy" face when we praise him for sitting alone.
Just waiting for the snow to melt.......Happy May Day.
